Learning path
Methods, responses, dialogs and SDP: the language every SBC speaks.
Basic, early-media, PRACK, transfer and forking flows, read as ladder diagrams.
A repeatable method for failed calls, one-way audio and DTMF problems.
Platforms, licensing, call legs and dial-peer matching.
SIP profiles, header passing, transcoding and box-to-box high availability.
TLS, SRTP, trusted lists and toll-fraud prevention for internet-facing trunks.
Register-based and certificate-based Local Gateway for Webex Calling.
Onboarding carriers, interop checklists and multi-carrier resilience.
Regional breakout and consistent routing across CUCM, Webex, Teams and carriers.
Courses
Understand exactly how a voice call works on an IP network, from SIP signalling and SDP negotiation to RTP media, codecs and QoS.
Foundation for 350-801 CLCOR
A structured method for diagnosing failed calls, one-way audio, DTMF and registration problems from SIP traces, CUBE debugs and packet captures.
Supports 350-801 CLCOR
Master Cisco Unified Border Element: dial-peer design, SIP normalisation, security, transcoding, high availability and real carrier troubleshooting.
Supports 350-801 CLCOR
Plan, deploy and operate Webex Calling: Control Hub, locations, numbering, Local Gateway, cloud PSTN and coexistence with CUCM.
Supports 350-801 CLCOR (Cloud and Hybrid Services)
Connect Microsoft Teams Phone to the PSTN and to CUCM using Cisco CUBE as a certified Direct Routing SBC. This is the course where the two platforms meet.
Supports MS-721
Design and operate carrier interconnects and enterprise-wide voice routing: multiple ITSPs, regional breakout, number portability, emergency calling and failover.
Supports 300-815 CLACC
Design and run voice estates where Cisco CUCM, Webex Calling and Microsoft Teams coexist: shared dial plans, SBC architecture, migration and operations.
Design capstone (Train Collab certificate of completion)
Why CUBE matters
Hands-on
5 exercises
A full SIP trunking edge: CUBE, a simulated carrier and a CUCM cluster. Ideal for dial-peer design, SIP normalisation and security practice.
PSTN simulator ↔ CUBE ↔ CUCM cluster ↔ endpoints
4 exercises
A Webex Calling organisation with a premises Local Gateway and CUCM, for cloud provisioning and hybrid coexistence practice.
Webex Calling ↔ Local Gateway (CUBE) ↔ CUCM and PSTN
5 exercises
A dedicated Microsoft 365 tenant with Teams Phone licences, a certified SBC and a PSTN simulator. Real Direct Routing, not screenshots.
Microsoft 365 Teams Phone ↔ SBC ↔ PSTN simulator and CUCM
Your instructors
Principal Instructor, CUBE & SIP Interworking
Priya spent a decade at a Tier-1 carrier integrating enterprise SBCs with SIP trunk services. She teaches dial-peer design, SIP normalisation and troubleshooting from real carrier traces.
Lead Instructor, Cisco Collaboration
Daniel has designed and migrated CUCM clusters for global enterprises and service providers, from 500-seat sites to 60,000-user multi-cluster deployments. He writes the CCIE mock labs and leads the live CCNP cohorts.
FAQ
Yes. Specific CUBE platforms and IOS XE releases are certified by Microsoft for Direct Routing. Always check Microsoft's current list of certified SBCs and Cisco's CUBE configuration guide for supported versions.
Labs use a carrier-grade SIP simulator that reproduces common ITSP behaviours, such as registration, digest authentication, delayed offer and non-standard headers, so you can practise interop safely.
Start at stage 1, SIP & VoIP Fundamentals. Engineers with solid SIP experience can begin at CUBE Fundamentals (Cisco CUBE Professional).
Yes. The SIP, normalisation, security and troubleshooting stages apply to any SBC. Configuration examples use Cisco CUBE.
All CUBE & SBC Academy courses and CUBE labs are included in the Professional plan.
