Enterprise voice is changing, but it is not disappearing. Calls have moved into Teams and Webex, carriers have moved to SIP, and someone still has to make it all work together reliably.

A typical progression

  • UC support / service desk: MACDs, phone and client troubleshooting
  • UC administrator: CUCM or Teams administration, voicemail, call features
  • Collaboration / voice engineer: dial plans, SBCs, gateways, projects
  • Senior engineer / consultant: design, migrations, multi-platform integration
  • UC architect: strategy, platform selection, global design

Skills that differentiate

Deep SIP troubleshooting, SBC expertise and the ability to work across Cisco and Microsoft platforms are consistently the skills that move engineers into senior roles.
